Course Review – Part 2

In the first part of the course we became aware that there are two parts to us, the physical and the spiritual and that by bringing more attention to the spiritual we bring greater balance to our lives. In the second part we start to explore this spiritual side more deeply. The second part of the course helps us to explore our spiritual connection, to start to apply our creative power, and to comprehend the interconnected nature of our being.

In terms of chi kung and meditation we work with the higher centres, throat, third eye and crown and deepen into our spiritual awareness. We are an interconnected being, not in any way limited by space or time. We are part of a universal life force which flows through all things. As we deepen this spiritual awareness we harness the power of the universe.

The main practice here is play, exploring something new. We learn, not with the mind, but through experiential knowledge. We learn that this energy is not ours to command but we can direct it towards our greatest goals.

Abundance in All Things
The purpose of the second part of the course is to develop our spiritual awareness, to connect to the power that flows though all things. Be gentle on yourself, this takes time. We grow now not by learning more but by thinking less. We learn by being in touch with the universe We learn little by little, the universal mind reveals itself. We learn to harness the universe, but to what ends? If we think we know, then we are still fooling ourselves. The universe is abundant, there are no limits. There is no limit to what this would offer us and no limits to what the universe offers. The key is not to harness the universe but to understand what has value and what does not have value.

First we deepen our connection and communication with spirit. This is not about psychic ability but divine ability, it is not mediumship but oneness. We learn through play. We learn to discern between true connection and the ego mind. They are different and they feel different and with practice we can differentiate. What is guidance and what is the mind? What is insight and what is thought? Insight and intuition are the basis of our learning now. We can always try to grasp things intellectually but will never really understand. Our understanding goes deeper and deeper, as layers of mis-comprehension are lifted.

Second we get in touch with our creative ability. Creative power is a reminder of who we are and what we are capable of. We can manifest what we choose but we can also manifest what the universe chooses. There is no lack in the universe, but more importantly there is no lack in us. We are trying to get in touch with the side of us that is abundant. There is no short cut here, we need to know our limitless spiritual being.

Yes we can create things through will power, through our individual strength and determination, if we maintain an absolute rigid focus on our desire, to the exclusion of all else. But in this course we are learning to create from our soul, from our spiritual purity. This is what this part of the course is really about, to know your spiritual purity. We are always creating, it is never whether we can create or not only understanding what we choose to create. We create through every thought, word and action. As we understand the nature of the spiritual world we become more selective about what we create.

We are developing life tools. It is not do it now, but learning step by step, to reveal this soul quality. There is no doubt it takes time but it should be built on the foundation of the first part of the course. In the first part we start to learn more about ourselves, take control of our lives and start to find greater balance by bringing more spirituality into our lives. This helps us to lead healthier and happier lives. This underpins our further exploration of our spiritual nature.

As we comprehend the nature of the spiritual world we realise that everything and everybody is connected. The third part of this section of the course is community and the interconnectedness of all things. The process of unfoldment takes time but, as our spiritual nature unfolds and we explore more deeply, we are supported in our learning in three ways. By those who walk the path with us, and those who have already discovered their limitless nature, the divine masters, guides, and angels. We are also supported in our exploration by those who share our lives, not necessarily because they stand beside us but because they offer us the opportunity to see clearly. They offer us the lessons we need and the chance to see the truth in them. To know ourselves we must know others. We can see our purity by looking beyond the seeming limitations in others and see theirs. We see the truth in them to see the truth in ourselves.

Everything becomes increasingly clear. What do we need to do? What is the nature of this world and us within it? We do not yet know but it is clear that the world we used to see in front of us is illusionary. We can rest now, participating in the world and learning from the world. We continue to grow and unfold and increasingly spend time just being, without judgement and without expectation.

Development of Trust (part 2)
From A Course in Miracles
The third stage through which a teacher of God must go can be called “a period of relinquishment.” If this is interpreted as giving up the desirable, it will engender enormous conflict. Few teachers of God escape this distress entirely. There is, however, no point in sorting out the valuable from the valueless unless the next obvious step is taken. Therefore, the period of overlap is one in which the teacher of God feels called upon to sacrifice his own best interests on behalf of truth. He has not realised as yet how wholly impossible such a demand would be. He can learn this only as he actually does give up the valueless. Through this, he learns that where he anticipated grief, he finds a happy lightheartedness instead; where he thought something was asked of him, he finds a gift bestowed on him.

Now comes “a period of settling down.” This is a quiet time, in which the teacher of God rests a while in reasonable peace. Now he consolidates his learning. Now he begins to see the transfer value of what he has learned. Its potential is literally staggering, and the teacher of God is now at the point in his progress at which he sees in it the whole way out. “Give up what you do not want and keep what you do.” How simple is the obvious! And how easy to do! The teacher of God needs this period of respite. He has not yet come as far as he thinks. Yet when he is ready to go on, he goes with mighty companions beside him. Now he rests a while and gathers them before going on. He will not go on from here alone.

Value and Judgement
How do we know what is and isn’t valuable, how do we judge the value of anything? Our human judgement puts value on everything, some things good, some things bad, but does this judgement that has any semblance of true value or is it just a transitory judgement which has no true meaning.

In the ebb and flow of the world we change our perspective constantly as things are revealed to us. We look at the world with a changing perspective. As we change the value and judgement, we place on everything, changes. So if our judgement changes, was it ever right in the first place or was it always wrong?

When we look at the world with the eyes of the universe, our perspective changes completely. There is no right or wrong, everything is an illusion. All our judgement and perspective is unsettled, it holds no value for us because we start to see the truth in all things, the perfection in everything.

We see our friends suffering, but that suffering is not in them it is in us. Our judgement is not based on the truth in the situation but on the values that we place on the situation. When we feel our own suffering that too is our perspective, it is not the truth. We only suffer when we look at the situation with fear, the pain we feel is in our mind. It is possible to be in the same situation and not suffer, just by changing our mind, our perception. So if that is so, is our suffering real? It is real to us in the world of illusion and we live in the world of illusion. So it seems real, but we can change our perspective.

The world we live in is justified in our mind. We give it the value that it has, whether that be pain or joy. We can live our life from a different perspective. It is not easy to change perspective because it is built up through years of experience and teaching in the world of illusion. To undo that may take time and while we hold onto the illusion we will still hold onto some of its pain. It is only when we let the illusion go that the pain goes away.

We can choose, we can always choose, how we see a situation and what we feel in a situation. We can choose illusion or reality. But whatever we choose, it is always clear that we can look at any situation differently and feel or see it differently. We can choose what we wish for in any situation. We can continue to experience the pain, the grief, the joy, the jealousy the anger or we can choose something else. Whenever we have an emotion, we no longer choose to have, in a situation then we can change our mind about it.

Choose wisely, because an alternative illusion may be more pleasurable but it is still an illusion. With Spirit’s guidance we can see the truth in any situation, or accept that the whole truth is beyond us so that we are trusting of the truth. Remember nothing is right or wrong. Let spirit show us truth and we can give up our judgement, which is ultimately flawed.

Each day we see the truth more and more. Truth is not learning. We do not learn truth, we reveal it. It is inside us. We already know it and all we do is reveal what is already there. Little by little we reveal the truth inside us. But only through Spirit can we remove the layers of uncertainty and doubt, because we want to see clearly and not merely change the film before our eyes. All we want is a blank screen, empty of judgement and value, waiting to be filled.

Going Further
The course has been one where we, as individuals, seek to discover our spiritual self. Now we look at it, not as an individual, but as though we are part of a spiritual being who explores humanity, who for a time can experience human senses and emotions.
We are aware of two parts to ourselves, our humanity and our spirituality. We flow in and out of these two states and we use our tools as appropriate to where we are at any given time. Sometimes we lead our lives from spiritual perspective, sometimes we return to unconscious living.
Now is the time to choose, to be clear about what we desire. Which of these states do we want to lead our lives? We can continue to move in and out from one to the other, we will lead happier, more fulfilled and richer lives. We can seek out our true nature and light the fire that burns within. It is a choice between truth and illusion.
