Week 16 – Creativity

“It is what your heart thinks that is important. What your heart thinks sets off a chain reaction that cannot be stopped.” Christina Firzt

This part of the course is about connecting to the flow of the Universe. This flow is continuous and we are always part of it The Universe has unlimited energy and this unlimited source of energy is part of us and we are part of it. Yet we do not always recognise it. There are times that we can recognise and connect to this flow. When we are in the flow we can harness its power for healing, for love, for inspiration, for guidance and for creativity. When we are in the flow, miracles are the natural way of being in our life.

There are two main aspects to our practice. Firstly we acknowledge our creative ability. This quality is inherent in our being, we are always creating, whether we are aware of it or not. By our nature we are a creature of creativity. There is no way that we cannot create, it is intrinsic to our very being. Whether we like the idea or not we have created the world we see about us. We are creating the world we see around us and that we are creating with every thought, word and action. If we don’t like the world we see then we need to change what we create.

Secondly creativity is about choice. It is about learning to choose what we want to create with our lives. Do we choose to create with our heart or our mind. We can develop that creative ability into our spiritual being. Because we are always creating it is not a matter of whether or not we create but what we create. We choose either to create from a human perspective of lack or from our spiritual self. By creating with our spiritual being we are creating more powerfully, we align the power of the universe behind our creative ability. The universe has unlimited power and by aligning with this unlimited power we learn to live our lives in abundance.

In the end there is only one choice, between who we are and who we pretend we are. We can create from either perspective. There is no problem with choosing a new job, new car, new partner or whatever we desire, but does it come from love or from lack. Everything is available to us, the world is abundant. Whatever we create comes either from our universal connection or from our limited self. It is a privilege to be able to choose.

Our spiritual self is unlimited, being full of love, peace, joy and happiness. It does not have nor perceive any lack. It sees the world from the perspective of abundance, where there is enough for everyone. The spiritual self does not see the need for pain and suffering, for anger, hatred and jealousy because it sees that there is enough for all of us. In exploring our spiritual nature we start to recognise the abundance in the world and the abundance within.

The universe is filled with an unlimited amount of energy. There is enough for everyone to live in abundance. Whatever we desire in the world there is enough for us and for everyone else. So we let the world into our life and live a life of abundance.

There are many kinds of Abundance. We often focus on financial abundance, having enough money so that we do not need to worry about it. But abundance is more than that. Abundance is having love within, and love to share. Abundance is having peace inside and the ability to bring peace to others, to take away their pain and bring joy back to them. Abundance is having enough food to eat and room to live, so that others can share it and know that there is a place of comfort for them. Abundance is having value in our life, knowing that what we do is not just for us but brings hope and change to others. Abundance is about joy, feeling that expression of love in our heart so that we feel that inner joy. It is so full inside that it bubbles out and shares itself.

Creative Process
Everything around us has been created. Where we live, the contents of our homes, our car, our clothes, the things we use. Everything started as a thought, an idea in someone’s mind. It was communicated by words and pictures and then brought into life by action. This is the basis of the creative process: thought, word, action. The creative process does not only apply to material things, it applies to the relationships we have, to our jobs, to money, everything in our lives. Through our thoughts, words and actions we create the world we inhabit.

Every thought, every word, every action is creative. They create the world we inhabit, primarily the world close to us, but by consequence also the wider world. The result that we see around us may not be the world we chose to create, but it is the one we created. If we desire a different world, we need to acknowledge that we have created, what we have now, and then choose to create differently through greater awareness of our thoughts, words and actions.

Words are more powerful than thoughts and actions are more powerful than words. Yet it is necessary to start with changing our thoughts first, because they are the basis of our belief system. Our belief system is what we express to the world, by being who we are, by what we say and what we do. By what we say and do we are a witness to what we believe. For example if we truly believe in peace in the world then we need to express that thought in words and action. If we create our thought of peace in the world yet we are critical of others or angry with someone in our words and deeds the we negate that positive thought and continue to create disharmony in the world which ultimately can be expressed, en masse, as war.

Our creative ability is incredibly powerful and when combined with others, creates the world we live in today. This is why media and propaganda are so powerful because it can stimulate mass creativity by aligning thought and word until someone puts it into action. While as individuals we may not like the resulting action e.g. war, we have participated in its creation.

In order to create we need to live that reality. To change the world we live in it is necessary to change the way we think and express that change in word and deed. It is a start to change our thoughts yet if we do not change what we say or do, we do not express our changed reality. If we choose peace in the world it is necessary to change our thoughts about other people in our lives, so that we stop judging them. Then we express our loving thoughts by saying positive things and by not agreeing with negative things. Finally we may take peaceful action, e.g. participating in peace rallies, sending letters against aggression or praying for peace.

It is sometimes easy when talking to people to be caught up in agreeing with what somebody says, to support their views implicitly by nodding agreement or by sympathising. Be wary of how powerful this is, even simple agreement helps to add energy to the creative power in the other person.

It is easy to get caught up in mass views expressed in the media, to unconsciously support views which conflict with our own belief, because everyone seems to be agreeing. If we want to change our effect on the world, we need to try to see the situation based on our own belief and to try to express our own view rather than get caught up in the consensus view.

The most powerful way to change the world is to change ourselves. If we can start to change the world we live in we will change others around us, but first we need to become consistent in our own beliefs and express them in thought, word and deed. If we can become aware of our own thoughts and words we can change what we are creating into the world. These subtle changes extend through society and society’s views start to change.

Whatever we choose for the world we need to find in ourself first. This applies to the world at large and to our own personal world. If we choose to have a peaceful life then learn to find peace inside. If we want love in our life, learn to find love inside. If we want abundance in our life, learn to find our own abundance. Once we have found inside what we want, then extend it into the world, extend the peace, extend the love, extend the abundance, in word and action.

Our creative power once aligned is incredibly powerful. When our thoughts, words and actions are in alignment we can create the world and the life we choose. Yet this aspect of creative power is still limited, in that it can be affected by others and also by our own wavering thoughts. We all have this creative power and we are all using it. By aligning it we increase it and by remaining focused and aware we concentrate it. Yet the truly unstoppable creative power comes by aligning it with our spiritual being too. By aligning our thoughts, words and actions to our spiritual being, and creating with love and integrity, we can start to create with the power of the universe.

from The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra

The affluence of the universe – the lavish play and abundance of the universe – is an expression of the creative mind of nature. The more tuned in you are to the mind of nature, the more you have access to its infinite, unbounded creativity. But first you have to go beyond the turbulence of your internal dialogue to connect with that abundant affluent, infinite, creative mind. And then you create the possibility of dynamic activity while at the same time carrying the stillness of the eternal, unbounded, creative mind. This exquisite combination of silent unbounded, infinite mind along with dynamic, unbounded, individual mind is the perfect balance of stillness and movement simultaneously that can create whatever you want. This coexistence of opposites – stillness and dynamism at the same time – makes you independent of situations, circumstances, people and things.

When you quietly acknowledge this exquisite coexistence of opposites, you align yourself with the world of energy – the quantum soup, the non-material non-stuff that is the source of the material world. This world of energy is fluid, dynamic, resilient, changing, forever in motion. And yet it is also non-changing, still, quiet eternal and silent.

Stillness alone is the potentiality for creativity; movement alone is creativity restricted to a certain aspect of expression. But the combination of movement and stillness enables you to unleash your creativity in all directions – wherever the power of your attention takes you.

Wherever you go in the midst of movement and activity, carry your stillness within you. Then the chaotic movement around you will never overshadow your access to the reservoir of creativity, the field of pure potentiality.

The Power of Thought
From The Light Bringer by White Eagle

We cannot too strongly emphasise the power of thought. You think that thought is something private – that no-one can read human thoughts; but truly there is no covering to thought. It is heard, it is seen and moreover it often has a dynamic power, as you have yet to learn. Your thoughts are either helping the world to enlightenment, or are holding back the progress of humanity. Thought can create good health and thought can also heal, but thought can introduce pain and disease and can disrupt an destroy the bodily, mental and human soul-life. Science is only on the outermost fringe of comprehension of the power of thought. Thought can do anything in the world. Thoughts of anger and hate form the root of all suffering and of wars. Thoughts can also bring forth beauty and harmony, and brotherhood, and all else that men and women long for. We know that by seeing only good, by creating good, by positive thought, we can help to bring about that which is desirable and good.

As you progress on your path it will be clearly demonstrated to you that what you think, you become; the vibrations set up by your thoughts are making an impression on the higher ether. You register something on that higher ether, and thereby attract to yourself corresponding waves or forces, which again, when they return ( if you still pursue your path of wise thinking, or unselfish service to others) will create certain conditions in your life. The law, working in the human mind and soul, creates conditions of life and brings to individuals (if they are working in the right way) these things for which they pray and hope. But it is not only a matter of thinking what you want. That is only a small part of the picture. The real truth is that you wish to work with God to create harmony, beauty and healthfulness, holiness and happiness, not only for yourself, but for all human kind. It is this motive of creative love which gives power and life to your thoughts and prayers.
